Preventative maintenance
for gym equipment
Getting fit yourself is one thing, but is the equipment and machinery you use fit for purpose? One way to make sure is to follow the manufacturers daily and weekly maintenance schedules, but few people are sufficiently disciplined to take the time to clean down and lubricate machinery at the recommended intervals. And whilst maintanance contracts are available from the original equipment manufacturers, these tend to be geared towards new equipment that forms part of a lease or finance agreement.
Third party service contracts can be very expensive and the support can be limited especially if the equipment is obsolete. In these times of environmental awareness, it makes a great deal of sense to maximise the life of your machinery and consider all options before replacement. Could the machine be repaired.......and what caused the failure in the first place?
Fortunately, there is now another option which is to embark on a professional equipment maintenance programme. One such programme, codenamed "iNshape" is run by Northwick.
Performance
Northwick are independent Engineering experts. This means that they are able to provide unbiased service based on what is best for their customers.
Jon Isaacs, MD of Northwick offers this summary: "We are redefining the way people think about fitness equipment maintenance and I think our approach is a novel one! Our "iNshape" programme is something which we have been providing our customers in [industry] for some time, but we have found that it is also very appropriate for a wide range of equipment which is outside of a traditional industrial environment. The point is to get the maximum performance and the maximum life out of equipment for the least amount of expenditure - something that appeals to most people. We are able to do this by using our professional expertise in machinery."
Jon goes on to explain that by servicing equipment and taking account of how the equipment is used and the importance of the equipment to it's owner, it becomes possible to provide a much more rounded approach to repairs and maintanance.
The approach is unique because Northwick really understand why problems occur and, by applying their knowledge with respect to how the equipment is being used, it is possible to begin to predict failures before they occur. Thus, Northwick are able to offer expert opinion as to how best to prioritise and schedule repairs and can differentiate between when it is best to recommend a simple repair versus recommending the purchase of a new or better quality machine.
Having access to this expertise and depth of knowledge about how machinery works and the ability to predict failures, customer are able to gain a longer term perspective about their equipment performance which can help them manage cash flow and plan ahead so as to make the right decision on what type of machine to buy when the time comes for replacement.
Equipment Maintenance
The "iNshape" maintanance programme by Northwick is geared towards people who have a range of different equipment such as can be found in fitness centres, spas, gyms but it is equally applicable to any machine where there is a desire to achieve the maximum life and maximum performance at the lowest costs.
Prices for professional inspections and servicing for multiple items of equipment (such as at a commercial gym) begin from only £399 plus VAT.
In addition to iNshape, Northwick offer an range of services to suit a whole spectrum of customers including domestic users
